Reflective Journal: 4.2.13

From the drawings that were created in 'Reflective Journal: 31.1.13' I created a beauty shoot using my drawings as inspiration. Image below.

I then experimented by photoshopping the two together. images below.

Reflective Journal: 1.2.13

Art and design being my background, and I used to practise allot of drawing. So I went back to my roots and started to experiment with drawing my own illustrations.
Ink, and colouring pencils were used.

I then scanned my drawings into my computer and edited them but just changing the contrast and brightness to make the drawing look stronger and sharper.

So I've decided to created my own illustrations for my book.

Reflective Journal: 31.1.13

I started to organise individual beauty shoots that I want to include in my book. With pop up in mind I wanted to experiment with what could work as a pop up in my book. Here is what i come up with;

Idea 1 > a editorial piece made from card board clothes, this idea making it easy to have pop up incorporated.

Idea 2 > big lips popping up out the middle of the page -double spread
Idea 3 > I love the power of the women in this image, the idea having some of the women pop up and some not out of the middle of the page

Idea 4 > i love the makeup side of this inspiration, the idea of having the two models sitting in thrones and popping up at the top of the page but do my own interpretation on the 'eyes' on the hands.

Reflective Journal: 29.1.13

Where I got inspired for my idea:
I first cam across the image from vogue back in the summer and knew that I wanted to interpret this myself, as using different mediums really interests me as a makeup artist. So I researched more into fashion illustration where I fell in love! I love the whole 'quick' 'effortless' but effective look of fashion illustration. It seemed perfect to mix the two together.

Thinking about the website?

I wanted to take a moment to think about what my website will need to socially network my book in the correct way;

Plain design > black/white background
simple design
home screen with the logo/name of the book with one eye catching image
pages > about?
          > images of the shoots week-by-week
          > end product - video?
          > contact page

ideas for the home page...?
3d nail art?
glamorous OTT nails
hands holding diamonds
still life shoot
main focus on the hands
hands 'holding the title'

Reflective Journal: 28.1.13

I went back to my mood boards and made them more specific to certain shoots I want to create. As a makeup artist i defiantly want to show off my artistry skills and have a lot of 'beauty' up close styled shoots.
My main focus to get the theme/atmosphere just right
>glamorous
>expensive
>what all women dream of?

Reflective Journal: 27.1.13 part 3

TITLE IDEAS!!!!!
pop up goes your dreams
from me to you
i am all you need
pop up fantasy
fantasise
dreams and desires
to you from me

Reflective Journal: 27.1.13 part 2

With the theme of glamour through-out my book the styling doesn't come cheap.  I don't have wardrobes worth of free glamorous clothes to borrow in large quantities. So i've Borrowed money off of a family member to help me through my FMP.
So I now have a budget of £1000 to cover;

Styling
Beauty Styling
Travel/lunch expenses
Printing

Studios, Photographers, Stylists and models I have collaborated for free with the agreement of crediting and TFP.

Reflective Journal: 27.1.13

A schedule set in stone:
A photo shoot a week from 28th of January to the 1st of April.
this leaves me with loads of time to edit images/get images back from photographers every week as well as doing extra beauty shoots that can be created and shot in the makeup studio. From the first of April un till hand in, it leave me a month to put together and print the book.

Once i have a nice flow of images and I.T lessons to strengthen my skills I will start to create a website to start social networking my book and gathering potential readers before the book is even printed. The website will then be updated and edited every week along with the new images that are created on a week-by-week basis.

Reflective Journal: 26.1.13

Today i made moodboards in InDesign for the styling, hair and makeup and an overall atmosphere of what will be carried out through out the book.

Whats the book about you may ask?

Her idea is to make a 'Pop-Up' fashion/illustration book, thats a 'One off' piece, almost hand-made even. A book that grabs and keeps hold of your attention.
The 'Pop-Up' will not be through-out the book but different textures of paper will be used as well as, the idea of rotating the book to keep the readers attention - With the idea to avoid the typical 'flick' through image book. The readers interested/attention is the main focus for this book!

Whats the book about you may ask?
All women desire to be that once celebrity or ikon (Marilyn Monroe, Beyonce) because they all explode with one thing. Glamorisation!!! That glamorous appearance we never get to experience because we most probably will never walk the red carpet. We have all desired and fantasied to be that women, which is why we all enjoy reading magazines, keeping up-to-date with fashion, hair and makeup trends to feel glamorous in our own ways.
This book is about what all women dream of but I'm translating it through illustration and my own creative shoots. the illustration representing YOUR dreams and desires being drawn out in front of you, coming ALIVE almost, everything you dream about POPPING out of the page.

It's a bespoke piece that can be appreciated by fashion and makeup lovers. Something to sit back, enjoy, dream, fantasise and imagine its you!!
